VYHLIDKY DIAMOND WAY BUDDHIST CENTRE
(MEDITATION AND RETREAT CENTRE)
The Vyhlidky project originated from the vision and activity of a group of idealists in Ceske Budejovice. In 1999, a place near Ceske Budejovice was found and purchased, combining the best from both town and country life and presenting an unlimited potential for the preservation and practice of Dharma. Lama Ole Nydahl gave Vyhlidky the name of Karma Dondub Ling – Place of Realization. The house area is 1145 sq. m. (former farm) and the adjoining land and courtyard 1613 sq. m.
The foundation of each meditation centre is the meditation room (about 100 sq. m. in Vyhlidky) and the people who live there and ensure its operation, activities and development. There are 4 apartments and a kitchen for the residents. During the courses, the so-called Garuda Club is used as a diner and a meeting place. A project of an eco-friendly water purifier and a forest park is worth mentioning as well.
Activity
Like in any other Diamond Way centre, we organize weekends with travelling teachers and meditations. Vyhlidky are moreover exceptional for certain meditation activities (Buddha medicine retreats, Nyungne retreats) and its focus on the preservation of Buddhist art and its transfer to the West. There are also courses of statue filing and thangka painting, and periods for meditation retreats in the first three months of the year.
More and more people are visiting Vyhlidky and thus bigger courses and retreats are organized. Thus, a reconstruction of the house and landscaping are necessary. Afterwards, we will be able to fulfil our main vision – a construction of the Enlightenment Stupa.
