CESKY TESIN DIAMOND WAY BUDDHIST CENTRE
DAKINI GOMPA
Even at the time when our rented and reconstructed centre was quite sufficient for our bilingual, Czech-Polish Tesin sangha, an idea of our own meditation centre emerged, to establish a stable basis for meetings and common Buddhist practice on an international level.
We searched throughout the town until we found a house in a park. In its time (about a hundred years ago), it most likely served as accommodation for workers from the local brick factory. The condition of the house reflected that and it needed to be repaired. However, its surrounding changed – into a park with grown trees and ponds – overall a charming place, near the town centre. The house itself is of fire bricks and it can house a spacious meditation room, a social room, guest rooms and facilities for common events.
In July 2008, the house was purchased by the Nydahl Endowment Fund with the money of the Tesin sangha and Czech friends and a loan from our friends in Ostrava. Lama Ole Nydahl visited the place in autumn, during his second visit to Tesin. Thus, the place already has his blessing for development. We also wanted to purchase the adjoining land, but it had a different owner – the State. The formalities took two more years. Thus, we had enough time for discussions on the future of the centre.
The land was purchased in spring 2010 and repairs started in summer, including a new roof.
